It’s time for MilSpouse Friday Fill-In! Head over to Wife of a Sailor to join in.

Were you named after anyone?

Yes, a waitress at a diner. My parents loved her name, and then miss spelled it on my birth certificate. (Oh, I go by my middle name Katie, not my first name.)

What color, if any, are your toenails usually painted?

I haven’t had a pedi in a LOOOOOOONG time, man do I need one. But I usually pick a deep pink or red color.

How do you flush a public toilet? Hands? Feet? Something else?

It depends on where we are. Ball Park, nasty looking restraunt feet. Cleaner places I’ll use my hand. But I always wash my hands….. and I never, ever take a mint from the bowl on the way out. (Have you seen the episode of Gilmore Girls when Rory talks about “Pee Mints”?)

When you were a little kid, which TV character did you have a crush on?

Charles, from Charles in Charge. And Zach Morris. Loved those guys!

Let’s say you had to lose one of your five senses (sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell). Which one would you choose? Why?

Smell, there are so many nasty ones out there that I wouldn’t mind not smelling ever again.

I love answering all of the questions that Wife of a Sailor posts every Thursday night. If you’re a MilSpouse and want to join in click on her name, you know, up there and link up. I’ve found lots of great milspouse blogs through this link up.

Here I go:

A different twist on last week’s question. This week, the first question is: what’s the nicest thing a MILSPOUSE has ever done for you? (brought to you from navy_smurfette)
The answer to this one is SUPER easy for me to answer, no thought at all.

I was fortunate enough to have family visit through out the first month of “My Girl’s” life (she’s my second child). Then all of the sudden they left, hubby had to go back to work. I was alone, with 2 kids. I was exhausted still recovering from a c-section taking care of a  week old and a 2 yr old. The nights were the worst, especially bed time. I had My Boy to put to bed and My Girl would spend 1-2 hrs crying right at his bed time. My friend Amanda came to my rescue, every night for 2 or 3 weeks. At bed time Amanda would show up, she’s take My Girl while I tucked in My Boy. Amanda stayed and held My Girl for an hour or two every night. We watched Real HouseWives, chatted, and I relaxed and caught my breath.

How often do you drive faster than the speed limit?

Ummm, on base? Rarely. Off base… more than I should. Usually I drive about 5 MPH over the speed limit. I justify it by mentally noting that EVERYONE else is driving MUCH fast than me. It’s true too…. in South Carolina the drivers are horrible, they speed and tail-gate all while driving half in each lane on a 2 lane road. It’s scary.

Did you have a nickname in school? If so, what was it?

I have red hair… so my lovely nickname was Fire Crotch. Yup. Nice right?

If your life was a book, what would the title be and how would it end?

I was just thinking about how EVERYONE is writing a book, and how if I wrote a book it would be pretty lame.

Look back (in your planner if you have one) to September 14th… what did you do that day?

The only thing written on that day is that My Girl did her first set of push ups. She was 4 months old. So I’m guessing we played outside, took a walk, and hung out in the house. (See a pretty boring story)

MilSpouse Friday Fill-In

Questions posted by Wife of a Sailor for other military spouses to fill out. She posts the questions every Thursday and then we link up on Fridays.

  1. What is something you wished you’d learned to do earlier in life? Organize and clean. I know it sounds funny, but I’m not a naturally organized person. I don’t know where my friends put their “stuff”.  Mine always ends up on the dinning room table. Which makes my house look more messy than it really is. I have a basket full of junk on my shelf. No one else does. It drives me nuts.
  2. What is your biggest pet peeve with the military? The hours? haha I don’t really let myself get peeved with military life. I grew up a Navy Brat and knew what to expect coming into this life as a wife. I know everything is subject to change, if you give me 24 hours I’m usually ok with the changes.
  3. What tourist attraction near you have you never seen? Fort Sumter. We live in Charleston, SC. I mostly grew up in San Diego and have never been to Mexico.
  4. What are you avoiding doing right now? Cleaning.
  5. Wine, beer or liquor? Yes! haha!!! It all depends on my mood.
